PCC commissioner in Ogun urges residents to use complaint platforms, assures amicable resolution

The Federal Commissioner of the Public Complaints Commission (PCC) in Ogun State, Morakinyo Akinleye, has urged members of the public to channel their grievances through any of the commission’s five offices or its social media platforms, assuring that complaints would be handled promptly and at no cost.
Akinleye gave the charge while responding to questions from journalists at the January Media Parliament and Guest Forum organised by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council, Oke Ilewo, Abeokuta.
He explained that the commission’s primary responsibility is to receive complaints from the public against government agencies and private establishments, adding that such concerns would be investigated with a view to achieving amicable resolution.
Speaking on the commission’s performance, Akinleye disclosed that the Ogun office handled 1,142 complaints between September 2024 and December 2025, resolving 783 of them.
According to him, 359 cases, representing 31.44 per cent, are still ongoing, stressing that the commission remains committed to effective service delivery.
He revealed that upon assuming office in September 2024, he inherited 520 pending complaints, out of which 343 were resolved, while 177 remained outstanding.
He said, “520 complaints were inherited as at September 2024 when I assumed office. Out of these, 343 complaints (65.96 per cent) were resolved, while 177 complaints (34.04 per cent) remained pending.
“Between September 2024 and December 2025, the Ogun State office received 622 new complaints, of which 440 complaints (70.74 per cent) were successfully resolved, leaving 182 complaints (29.26 per cent) ongoing.
“In total, the Ogun State office handled 1,142 complaints from September 2024 to December 2025. Out of these, 783 cases (68.56 per cent) were resolved, while 359 cases (31.44 per cent) are still ongoing, reflecting the commission’s commitment to effective service delivery.”
The federal commissioner affirmed that the commission has the authority to investigate government agencies and report erring organisations to the Federal Government. He also highlighted the support and collaboration received from various government agencies and the media, noting that these partnerships have contributed to the commission’s achievements.
Earlier in his welcome address, the NUJ Chairman, Comrade Wale Olanrewaju, said the forum was designed to inform the public about the activities of the commission and the benefits available to residents.
