Osun commences ‘Operation Show your Certificates’ for state workers

Osun State government has flagged off “Operation Show your Original certificates” screening and verification exercise in all parastatals in the state civil service.

The commencement of the exercise, which has created panic in the teaching service, saw many teachers under the employment of the state government, travelling to their various tertiary institutions where they attended to obtain their original certificate before they could be screened.

Investigations revealed that the committee meant to carry out the exercise had been given a standing order to ignore any teacher without his or her original certificates in the course of the screening.

As a result, hundreds of them are now visiting their former respective institutions to collect their age-long certificates.

It was learnt that some of them who graduated from distance states like Kaduna, Kano, Abuja, Akwa-Ibom and who do not have money to claim their certificates, have contacted close associates for bail out.

Many teachers, especially those in secondary schools in the state could not be found in their respective schools when our reporter visited as they reportedly went for their original certificates from the tertiary institutions where they graduated.

Meanwhile, the verification exercise is said to be compulsory for all workers in the state and whoever refuses to participate in it would not be considered as original worker of state, it was learnt.

Also, some ministries and parastatals in the state are also currently undergoing the same verification exercise since no one would be given special consideration.‎
