NDDC sets up project verification, payment committee

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has constituted a Project Verification and Payment Committee to verify completed projects across the Niger Delta region and facilitate their capture on the Commission’s digitised payment platform.

The decision followed a resolution reached at the 9th meeting of the 7th Governing Board of the Commission held on December 8, 2025, according to a statement issued on Saturday by the Director of Corporate Affairs, Seledi Thompson-Wakama.

The committee, approved by the Board and constituted by the Management led by the Managing Director, Dr Samuel Ogbuku, is mandated to verify all infrastructure, electrification, environmental, desilting and water supply projects executed by the Commission.

The exercise is aimed at capturing verified projects in the Directorate of Finance and Accounts’ electronic database to enable e-payments.

The statement said the move was in line with a Federal Government directive requiring all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to digitalise their operations and go paperless by December 31, 2025.

It added that the verification became imperative to ensure that all completed projects are properly documented on the Commission’s digitised platform for payment purposes.

According to the NDDC, the committee will undertake a comprehensive verification of all completed projects from inception up to January 2023.

Members of the Project Verification and Payment Committee include the Executive Director, Finance and Administration, Alabo Boma Iyaye, as chairman; the Executive Director, Projects, Sir Victor Antai; Director of Legal Services, Mr Victor Arenyeka, who will serve as secretary; Director of Project Monitoring Service, Engr. Gbenga Omowanle; Director of Finance and Administration, Mrs Kunemofa Asu; and Director of Internal Audit, Mr Lucky Ogbuji.

The Commission said the exercise is expected to strengthen transparency, accountability and efficiency in its project payment process.
