Major shake-up as army names new GOCs, provost marshal, intelligence chief

The Nigerian Army has reportedly announced new postings across its high command, affecting General Officers Commanding (GOCs), Principal Staff Officers, and heads of major formations.

In the redeployment, Major General Chinedu Nnebeife takes charge as GOC 2 Division, Ibadan, while Major General A.S.K. Wase assumes command of 1 Division, Kaduna.

Vanguard reports that other key changes include the appointment of Major General M.O. Erebelu as Provost Marshal, and Major General A.A. Idris as Chief of Military Intelligence. Major General J.E. Osifo has been named Director-General of the Nigerian Army School of Finance and Administration, while Major General A.A. Adeyinka becomes Chief of Logistics at Army Headquarters.

The shake-up also saw Major General Adetoba posted to the Nigerian Army College of Logistics Management, and former CMI, Major General Ugiagbe, redeployed as Chief of Army Standards and Evaluation. Major General Akesode will head the Monitoring, Verification and Compliance Mission in Ethiopia’s Tigray Region, while Major General M.T. Abdullahi now leads the Nigerian Army Cyber Warfare Centre.

The Army said all the postings take effect between August 19 and 25.
