KCHAqua Consortium gets Abia govt approval to execute CWC project

The Abia State government has reaffirmed its commitment to improving the lives of citizens through sustainable development initiatives and people-oriented programmes.

This assurance was given during an engagement between Aba medicine dealers and KCHAqua Consortium, a construction, infrastructure, and property development firm, which has been granted approval-in-principle (AiP) to execute the Coordinated Wholesale Centre (CWC) project.

Speaking at the meeting, the Special Adviser to Governor Alex Otti on Trade, Commerce and Industry, Chief Nwaka Inem, said the administration remains committed to the health needs of Ndi Abia. He also introduced KCHAqua Consortium as the firm approved for the project and cautioned medicine dealers against impostors.

The Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, Mr. Kingsley Nwokocha, urged the medicine dealers to sustain ongoing engagement, assuring them that the government would ensure all stakeholders are carried along before the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

Also speaking, the Director of the Public-Private Partnership and Investment Promotion Office, Mr. Uchenna Nnaomah, explained that KCHAqua Consortium emerged after a rigorous selection process.

“The journey began in September last year. Several companies applied, but some could not make it to the finish line. The PPP office scrutinised them diligently, and in the end, KCHAqua Consortium satisfied the conditions and was granted approval-in-principle,” he said.

Chairman of the Advisory Board of KCHAqua Consortium, Chief Victor Amuta, commended the state government for its support and assured stakeholders of the consortium’s commitment to delivering a world-class CWC facility. He also announced that the company had waived the fee for obtaining the expression of interest form for the project.

In his remarks, Chairman/Coordinator of the Aba Medicine Dealers Stakeholders Association, Chief Elvis Anoruo, thanked Governor Otti for providing land for the project and pledged the full support of members to ensure its success.

Southeast Post reports that the meeting, aimed at fostering mutual cooperation among stakeholders, was attended by state government officials, representatives of KCHAqua Consortium, and leaders of the Aba Medicine Dealers Stakeholders Association from Ekumi; Ariaria Zones A, B, and C; Henken Plaza; NAPMED Tenant Road Branch; Eziukwu Road; and Ngwa Road.
