Green: Flying Eagles tactics against Brazil suicidal

Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Executive Committee member, Barrister Christopher Green, believes coach Manu Garba’s tactics in Monday’s 4-2 loss to Brazil was faulty adding that it was more of a suicidal tactics
Green who also reckons the preparations of the Flying Eagles for the 2015 Fifa U20 World Cup could have been better, said Garba made mistake by attempting to play four strikers against the South Americans who are five-time World Champions of the tournament.
“Our coach (Manu Garba) made the mistake of trying to go for an over kill against the Brazilians.
“He played four strikers in the game and that was basically suicide against a very strong Brazilian side.
The Nigeria U20 team spent the final weeks of their preparation in Germany where they played three tune-up games but Green is also faulting the choice of Germany for the camping ahead of the tournament believing it’s not an ideal choice.
“The first mistake we made (in our preparations for the tournament) was going to Germany. The climate in Germany and New Zealand are anything but similar.
“And the Brazilians we played against (on Monday) in our first match have been in New Zealand from the 16th of May,” Green said.
“I don’t know if members of the NFF’s technical study group had any input in that game because the coach would have been advised against playing four strikers,” he said.
Nigeria will look to put their campaign back on track with a win over Korea DPR on June 4 in their second game in the competition.
