'God won't kill you, nothing wrong in you contesting,' Oba of Lagos tells Rhodes-Vivor

Rilwan Akiolu, the Oba of Lagos, has encouraged Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivor, Labour Party governorship candidate in the state not to relent in his quest if he if loses on Saturday, but noted that he is supporting the re-election bid of Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Oba Akiolu spoke on Thursday when Rhodes-Vivour isited him in his palace.

The Oba said the LP candidate has every right to contest for the governorship seat of the state and encouraged him not to relent if he loses in the poll billed to hold on Saturday.

He said all the candidates contesting for the governorship seat of the state are his children.

The Oba prayed for the LP candidate who was accompanied by his father and members of the party and wished him well in the future.

“Please, don’t relent after this contest but I am fully behind Sanwo-Olu,” the Oba told Rhodes-Vivour.

“I am not a hero worshipper and gossiper. For Gbadebo, the future is open to you. God will not kill you, there is nothing wrong in you contesting. All of those contesting are my children.

“I pray by the authority in this palace, God should help us to turn the state better. There is no way I can hate the Igbos because they are among my best friends.

“By the grace of God, there would be no trouble. All the false prophets, I am just looking at them. Everything is in the hands of God and within six months of Tinubu, there would be glaring progress.”

    İs the oba of Lagos a traditional ruler or a politician? Traditional rulers are not supposed to be openly supporting candidates for election. Let the oba remove his regal cap and join politics.
