The 22-year-old has scored 35 goals in the English Premier League (EPL), breaking the competition’s record for most goals in a season.

The Norwegian got 82 percent of the vote to win the gong ahead of Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard completing the top three.

In the women’s category, Sam Kerr, Chelsea FC striker, was adjudged the player of the year.

The Australian scored 26 goals in 34 club appearances this season, including 10 in the Women’s Super League (WSL).

She beat Rachel Daly of Aston Villa and club teammate Lauren James to win the award for the second year consecutively.

“Congratulations to Erling Haaland and Sam Kerr for becoming our Footballer of the Year and Women’s Footballer of the Year,” the statement reads.

Both players will receive their awards at the 2023 FWA dinner scheduled for May 25 at Landmark Hotel, London.
