Delta man kills father over N5,000
The Delta State Police Command has taken into custody a 23-year-old man, known as Success, for allegedly hacking his father to death with a cutlass in Amukpe community, Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State.
The sad incident reportedly occurred at the family’s residence following a heated argument over a monetary request.
Witnesses stated that the tragedy started when Success demanded N5,000 from his father, who declined to give him the money.
A neighbour, speaking anonymously, described Success as a known drug addict with a history of erratic behaviour.
“Everyone in this area knows Success as a drug addict who always misbehaves whenever he has taken those drugs,” the neighbour said.
According to the account, the argument escalated into a violent confrontation.
In a fit of rage, Success reportedly grabbed a cutlass and attacked his father, inflicting severe injuries.
The victim was rushed to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
When contacted on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer for Delta State Command, Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident, stating that “Success has already been taken into custody.”
The tragic event has left residents of Amukpe in shock and disbelief.
Many described it as a reminder of the dangers of substance abuse and the importance of addressing mental health issues.
