Dangote refinery cuts petrol price from N880 to N840 per litre

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has reduced the ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, from N880 to N840 per litre.

Spokesperson for the Dangote Group, Anthony Chiejina, confirmed the price adjustment in a statement on Monday night, noting that the new rate became effective on June 30, 2025.

“PMS price has been reduced from N880 to N840 per litre effective 30th June,” Chiejina stated.

The price reduction comes weeks after the refinery raised its petrol price to N880 per litre amid heightened tensions in the Middle East during the 12-day conflict between Israel and Iran, which had pushed crude oil prices to nearly $80 per barrel.

The latest adjustment is expected to bring some relief to marketers and consumers amid continued economic pressures and high transportation costs across the country.
