President Muhammadu Buhari has told members of the National Assembly that they have big role to play stepping into the next level of his administration, for the good of the nation.
The president stated this while congratulating the law makers for their successful election of principal officers on Tuesday.
The president took to his twitter page to call on those who emerged victorious to be magnanimous in victory, while encouraging those who lost to accept defeat in good faith.
“Stepping into the Next Level, the legislature has a big role to play for the goals of our administration to be achieved, and for the ultimate good of the nation,” Buhari said on his twitter handle @MBuhari.
“I urge all contestants who lost out to be gallant in defeat, and to join hands with the victors. And to the victors, I urge you to exhibit magnanimity. At the end of the day, we, the people, who elected our representatives at the national level, are the winners.”
The 9th National Assembly had on Tuesday, elected its principal officers with Senator Ahmed Lawan, Yobe emerging Senate President and Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, Delta, being elected Deputy Senate President.
In the House of Representatives, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila, Lagos, was elected Speaker, while Idris Ahmed Wase, Plateau emerged Deputy Speaker.
