Breaking gender bias will unlock economic gains for Nigeria— Osun First Lady
Mrs Titilola Adeleke, the Osun State First lady has emphasized the need to break gender bias as a step toward unlocking Nigeria’s economic potential.
Mrs Adeleke who was represented by the wife of Osun State Chief of Staff, Dr. Balikis Akinleye made the disclosure while delivering her lecture, at the Nigeria Association of Women Journalist (NAWOJ) Southwest Zonal Summit, in Osogbo, Osun State, on Thursday.
Speaking at the summit tagged “Breaking Gender Bias And Surviving Economic Instability To Embrace Development In Nigeria” she emphasized the role of inclusivity in fostering national development.
According to her, gender inequality has long been a barrier to progress, limiting opportunities for women and girls in various sectors.
She added that breaking gender bias would not only promote fairness but also drive economic growth by enabling the full participation of all Nigerians in the workforce and entrepreneurial space.
She said, “breaking gender bias and surviving economic instability are not only moral imperatives but also economic necessities. By tackling these challenges, we will unlock Nigeria’s full potential, ensuring a brighter future for ourselves and generations to come. Let us join hands to build a more inclusive, equitable, and prosperous Nigeria.
“Let us recognize the inherent worth and dignity of every Nigerian, regardless of gender, ethnicity, or socioeconomic status. Let us work together to create a nation that is just, fair, and free.”
This is as the Osun State NAWOJ installed Governor Ademola Adeleke’ elder sister, Modupe Adeleke-Sanni as the Grand Matron of the association.
Receiving the certificate of installation as the grand matron, Adeleke-Sanni thanked the union for counting her worthy to be installed as grand matron.
Represented by the state Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs, Hon. Ayo Awolowo, Mrs Adeleke-Sanni said the task will enable her to reaffirm her commitment to women’s empowerment, gender equity, and the fight for a just society.
She pledged her continued unwavering support initiatives that will uplift women, protect the rights of children, and create opportunities for all.
