BATN paid government ₦213billion in taxes in the last 11 years

The Nigerian government has benefitted in taxes from the British American Tobacco Nigeria (BATN) to the tune of N213 billion in the last 11 years.
The Managing Director, BATN, Chris McAllister who made the revelation when he received officials of the Manufacturing Association of Nigeria(MAN) who visited the company in Ibadan recently , said that the taxes were in addition to thousands of direct and indirect employment jobs through the value chain, an investment of an additional $145m to the initial investment of the $150m in its Ibadan factory and backward integration to boost agricultural productivity, especially in are of producing the tobacco leaves and other cash crops locally.
“BATN has paid a total of over N213billion as taxes to the Nigerian government in the last 11 years.
Also, we have provided thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities through the value chain, ensuring that backward integration that extends to producing the tobacco leaves locally in Nigeria in addition to other food and cash crops is boosting agricultural productivity,” McAllister said.
The President of MAN, Dr Frank Udemba Jacobs, who he led a delegation lauded by the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) for promoting high quality standards in its operating environment, consistent with international standards.
“I commend BATN for operating in an environment that is consistent with global standards.
