Bandits invade Jikamshi town in Katsina, Security expert sends SOS as attack continues

There were reports last night of a coordinated attack by bandits on Jikamshi town in the Musawa Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The invasion, which was said to be underway as at 10 pm yesterday ignited a frantic wave of distress calls from residents and observers on the ground.
The alarm was raised by a Katsina-based security expert, Bakatsine, who reported that the bandits had moved into the town and were threatening surrounding communities.
In a series of urgent posts directed at the Nigerian authorities, Bakatsine appealed for an immediate tactical intervention to prevent a massacre.
“Bandits are currently in Jikamshi town, Musawa LGA of Katsina State. Security assistance is needed in the town & surrounding communities,” the post read. “Please, retweet massively to pass the message to the authorities; may our effort save lives.”
The SOS was tagged to several high-ranking officials and agencies, including Governor Dikko Radda, Defence Headquarters (DHQ) and the Nigeria Police Force.
At the time of this report, the exact scale of casualties or property damage remains unknown, as the situation is still unfolding.
Efforts to obtain an official statement from the Katsina State Police Command have so far been unsuccessful.
Jikamshi and its surrounding communities have faced mounting security pressures in recent months, with residents repeatedly calling for increased military presence in the Musawa corridor.
