Army begins 2026 DSSC intake, opens officer recruitment to professionals

The Nigerian Army has opened applications for the 29/2026 Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) Course, inviting suitably qualified Nigerians to apply for commission as officers.

The announcement was made on Tuesday via the Army’s official X handle, where it stated that the recruitment exercise is open to both civilians and serving military personnel with relevant professional qualifications.

According to the Army, successful applicants will be commissioned into specialised corps to provide professional support for military operations and national security.

The corps available under the DSSC include the Nigerian Army Engineers, Nigerian Army Signals, Nigerian Army Medical Corps, Nigerian Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, and the Nigerian Army Education Corps.

The Army noted that the application process is free and strictly online, warning applicants against paying any individual or agent. The application portal will be accessible from January 7 to February 4, 2026.

Prospective candidates were advised to apply early and ensure that all required details are correctly filled during the application process.
