Osun poll: I've delivered on my campaign promises, Adeleke tells voters

By Sunday Oguntuyi, Osogbo

Osun State Governor and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Ademola Adeleke, has said his administration has fulfilled the campaign promises it made to the people in 2022, urging residents to support his bid for a second term in office.

Adeleke made the appeal on Wednesday during the Imole Campaign Council’s (TICC) consultation and mobilisation tour of Irepodun and Orolu Local Government Areas ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

Addressing supporters, the governor thanked the people of Irepodun for their continued support and maintained that his administration had delivered on its commitments to the electorate.

“I appreciate your support. When we came here in 2022, I promised you good governance, and I have fulfilled those promises. But the people have not seen anything yet. We will do much more for Osun State if re-elected,” he said.

As part of the campaign tour, Adeleke paid courtesy visits to the palaces of the Elerin of Erin-Osun, Oba Yusuf Adekunle Omoloye Oyagbodun II, and the Olobu of Ilobu, Oba Ashiru Olatoye Olaniyan II, where he met with traditional rulers, community leaders and other stakeholders.

Speaking on behalf of the Erin-Osun Progressive Union (EPU), the union’s National President, Chief Kayode Olawale, commended the governor for what he described as the inclusion of indigenes of Erin-Osun in government appointments and employment opportunities, particularly the recruitment of teachers.

While acknowledging the administration’s efforts in human capital development, Olawale appealed for additional infrastructure projects in the community.

“We appreciate the inclusion of Erin-Osun in your administration. You have done well, and we are hopeful that you will be re-elected. As you continue to invest in human capital development, we also appeal for more infrastructural development in our town,” he said.

Similarly, the Olobu of Ilobu, Oba Ashiru Olatoye Olaniyan II, pledged the support of the people of Ilobu and Irepodun Local Government for Adeleke’s re-election bid.

“You have our prayers and support. Ilobu stands with you, and the people of Irepodun Local Government will once again support your re-election. May God grant you victory and the strength to continue delivering good governance and development across Osun State,” the monarch said.

The consultation and mobilisation tour forms part of the Imole Campaign Council’s statewide engagement with stakeholders ahead of the governorship election, as the governor seeks another four-year mandate from the electorate.
