Osun poll: Atakumosa East traditional rulers endorse Adeleke for second term

By Sunday Oguntuyi, Osogbo

Traditional rulers in Atakumosa East Local Government Area of Osun State on Tuesday endorsed Governor Ademola Adeleke for a second term ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election.

The monarchs unanimously declared their support while hosting members of the Imole Campaign Council (TICC) in the local government.

Speaking on behalf of the traditional institution, Oba (Dr.) Richard Adebayo Faforiji, the Alamuye of Amuye-Faforiji, commended Governor Adeleke for what he described as his remarkable achievements and people-oriented governance over the past three years.

According to the royal father, the governor has demonstrated a strong commitment to inclusive governance and grassroots development, earning the admiration and confidence of the people. He assured Adeleke of the continued support, prayers and cooperation of the traditional institution.

The monarch also lauded the administration for its developmental projects, promotion of peace, respect for human dignity and what he described as the ruling party’s commitment to shunning political violence despite provocations.

Also speaking, Oba Oyebade Samson Kehinde Oyeleye, the Ogboni of Ipole-Ijesa and Chairman of the Atakumosa East Local Government Traditional Council, said the unanimous endorsement reflected the confidence of the traditional rulers in the governor’s leadership.

Quoting a Yoruba proverb, he said: “Ajanaku kọjá, mo rí nkan fìrì; tá a bá rí erin, ká sọ pé a rí erin,” explaining that it means greatness should be acknowledged whenever it is evident.

Responding, Governor Adeleke reiterated that his political philosophy is anchored on peace, justice, development and service to the people, stressing that politics should never be driven by violence but by a collective commitment to improving the lives of citizens.

The governor assured the traditional rulers that all ongoing projects initiated by his administration would be completed, while additional development projects would be undertaken if re-elected.

“I sincerely appreciate your love, confidence and endorsement. I assure you that, by the grace of God, I will do even more for the people of Atakumosa East, Ijesaland and the entire state when re-elected on August 15, 2026,” Adeleke said.
