By Sunday Oguntuyi, Osogbo

The Ogiyan of Ejigbo, Oba Oyeyode Oyesosin, has commended the administration of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, for executing critical road projects that had long been neglected, describing the interventions as unprecedented.

The monarch also urged the people of Ejigbo to support Governor Adeleke’s re-election bid, citing the administration’s impressive record in infrastructure development.

Speaking on Thursday during the inauguration of the completed 12-kilometre first phase of the Ejigbo–Iwo Road, Oba Oyesosin praised the governor for fulfilling his promises to the people.

“With what Governor Ademola Adeleke has done for Ejigbo, I want to tell my subjects—you always hear me and understand my language. We are going to cast all our votes for Governor Ademola Adeleke,” the traditional ruler declared.

Responding, Governor Adeleke said his administration had exceeded expectations despite initial scepticism from critics before he assumed office.

“They predicted that we would not perform, but we have proved them wrong. We have fulfilled our promises to the people, and we will continue to do even more. I sincerely appreciate our royal fathers for their unwavering support,” the governor said.

Adeleke assured the monarch and residents of Ejigbo that every commitment made to the community would be fulfilled, adding that more developmental projects would be executed in the town.

“I remember all the promises I made to Kabiyesi, and by the grace of God, I will fulfil every one of them. I also assure Your Royal Majesty that you will personally commission the Ejigbo–Iwo Road when the entire project is completed. I love you all and sincerely appreciate the people of Ejigbo for your continued support,” he added.

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Osun State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Bello Bashir, explained that the Ejigbo–Iwo Road is a 33-kilometre intercity road linking more than seven communities, including Ejigbo, Ilawo, Iwata, Ijimoba, Alagba, Iwo-Oke, Ibarapa, Amere and Iwo.

He said the reconstruction project was divided into two phases, with the first phase covering 12 kilometres and featuring a 7.3-metre-wide carriageway.

According to him, the project was awarded to De-Log Construction Company Limited and Messrs Time Building and Construction Limited, with each contractor handling a six-kilometre stretch.

Bashir noted that the completed 12-kilometre section had met all engineering requirements and was ready for inauguration.

He also disclosed that the state government had approved the reconstruction of the 10.7-kilometre Ejigbo–Isoko–Aiye Oguro–Oyo State boundary road, which will likewise be executed in two phases to ensure timely completion.

The permanent secretary further revealed that the Adeleke administration had completed the reconstruction of the Ejigbo–Ika-Orangun and Gaa-Gbonka roads, covering a combined distance of four kilometres, adding that all the projects were executed in line with approved engineering standards and specifications.
