Ogun Sensitises Farmers on Inclusive FG ‘FarmerMoni’ Registration Exercise

As part of efforts to ensure year-round food production and strengthen food security, the Ogun State Government has sensitised farmers across the state to participate in the ongoing registration exercise for dry-season farming under the Federal Government’s FarmerMoni scheme.

The Commissioner for Special Duties and Inter-governmental Affairs, Hon. Olufunmilayo Efuwape, disclosed this during an interaction with farmers in Abeokuta. She explained that the new registration exercise targets smallholder and rural farmers, particularly those who belong to farmers’ cooperative societies or organised clusters.

Represented by the State Programme Manager, Mr. David Adedigba, the commissioner said the initiative is part of the Federal Government Social Investment Programme known as the Government Enterprises Empowerment Programme (GEEP), popularly called FarmerMoni.

According to her, the scheme is designed to boost agricultural productivity, enhance food security and promote economic growth nationwide. She emphasised that the registration process is free and does not require any form of collateral or interest.

“The Federal Government’s gesture is aimed at boosting agricultural productivity and strengthening national food security. In line with this objective, Ogun State is sensitising various farmers’ clusters to ensure an inclusive registration exercise for dry-season farming,” Efuwape said.

She added that the GEEP programme is supervised by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Poverty Reduction and Social Development, noting that a new registration portal has been launched at http://geep.gov.ng. She advised intending beneficiaries to register with a valid means of identification.

The commissioner also urged farmers who had previously registered on the GEEP dashboard to revalidate their details through the designated data update portal at http://fmdatarevalidation.nsipa.gov.ng.

In their remarks, the Chairman of Ajegunle Farm Settlement, Mr. Rotimi Sogunle, and the Chairman of the Maize Association of Nigeria, Alhaji Jimoh Aderogba, commended the initiative. They pledged to mobilise their members to participate in the registration exercise and to extend the information to other farmers across the state.
