Insecurity: Service chiefs must be more ruthless - APC Chieftain

Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun, has cautioned opposition politicians against linking President Bola Tinubu to ongoing investigations by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Speaking with journalists on Sunday in Osogbo, Oyintiloye, a former lawmaker and member of the defunct APC Presidential Campaign Council, said the EFCC was only carrying out its constitutional mandate and not acting on behalf of the President.

According to him, investigations into petitions against some former governors and political appointees from opposition parties should not be politicised or misinterpreted as a witch-hunt.

“Being in the opposition does not grant immunity from EFCC scrutiny. Members of the ruling party have also been investigated whenever petitions are raised against them,” he said.

Oyintiloye stressed that the EFCC is empowered to probe financial infractions across party lines without fear or favour. He urged those under investigation to focus on clearing their names rather than attempting to blackmail the President.

“The EFCC has a mandate to investigate financial misconduct, regardless of political affiliation. Linking the President to such probes is wrong,” he stated.

He described Tinubu as a leader of “honour and integrity” who would not compromise in the fight against corruption, insisting that more individuals trying to hide under opposition politics to evade accountability would still be brought to book.

“It is no longer business as usual. Those seeking to blackmail the President to escape justice will find no room for graft under his administration,” Oyintiloye added.
