Abia celebrates release of abducted Oyo pupils, teachers

The Abia State Government has joined Nigerians in expressing gratitude over the safe release of the schoolchildren and teachers who were recently abducted in Oyo State.
In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Ukoha Njoku Ukoha, and made available to journalists in Umuahia, the government thanked God for preserving the lives of the victims and ensuring their safe return.
The statement prayed for the complete healing and emotional recovery of the pupils and teachers following their traumatic experience.
Part of the statement read: “On behalf of the Government and people of Abia State, we thank Almighty God for preserving the lives of the victims and seeing them through this traumatic ordeal. We pray for their complete healing, emotional recovery and a smooth return to learning.”
The Abia State Government also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his leadership and commitment towards securing the release of the victims.
It further commended the security agencies for their professionalism, courage and coordinated efforts in ensuring the safe rescue of the abducted schoolchildren and their teachers.
“We extend our profound appreciation to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his leadership and commitment in securing the release of the victims.
“We also commend the gallantry and professionalism of our security agencies. Their coordinated efforts, intelligence gathering and determination ensured that these children and teachers were brought home alive,” the statement added.
The government expressed solidarity with Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, the state government and the people of Oyo State over the incident.
It also sympathised with the parents and guardians of the victims, sharing in their relief and joy following the successful rescue.
“We stand in full solidarity with the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, the Government and the good people of Oyo State during this period.
“To the parents and guardians, we share in your joy and pray that such a painful experience never occurs again in our country,” the statement said.
