Borno School Attack: Authorities Release Names of 36 Students Still Missing After Abduction

The identities of 36 students who remain in captivity following Monday’s attack on Government Day Secondary School, Lassa, in Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State have been released.
The students were among candidates sitting for the National Examinations Council (NECO) examination when heavily armed attackers invaded the school and abducted several candidates, taking them to an undisclosed location.
Security forces later rescued 10 of the abducted students after troops of the Nigerian Army confronted the fleeing gunmen in a fierce exchange of gunfire.
Despite the rescue operation, dozens of students are still unaccounted for. On Tuesday, anxious families continued searching for their loved ones, while the Borno State Government opened a register to document missing persons linked to the attack.
According to reports, the register currently contains the names of 36 missing students, made up of 11 males and 25 females. The list includes one SS3 student, 17 SS2 students and 18 SS1 students.

Authorities have assured residents that efforts are ongoing to secure the safe return of the remaining students, while security agencies continue search-and-rescue operations in the area.
