The Head of Service (HoS) in Ogun State, Mr Kehinde Onasanya, has urged civil and public servants to continue embracing the reforms of the Prince Dapo Abiodun administration aimed at repositioning the state as an investment destination of choice.

Onasanya gave the advice while speaking with journalists in his office at Oke-Mosan during the first working week of the year, as part of an assessment of workers’ readiness for duty in the new year.

According to him, civil servants, as the engine room of government, must remain committed to the effective implementation of the administration’s cardinal programmes as encapsulated in the I.S.E.Y.A. mantra.

He described Governor Abiodun’s New Year broadcast as apt, noting that it captured the essence of governance. He added that the governor expressed gratitude to the workforce and the citizenry for their cooperation, while reaffirming the government’s commitment to inclusive development, improved welfare and the provision of social amenities.

The HoS said Ogun State had recorded significant growth under the current administration, citing achievements such as increased internally generated revenue and improved gross domestic product. He stressed that these milestones would not have been possible without the dedication of the workforce.

He added that the enviable status of the Ogun State Civil Service among its peers nationwide was commendable, urging workers to continue striving for excellence and sustaining the legacy laid by the service’s founding fathers.

“I want to thank His Excellency, the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for revving up the engine of government through various capacity-building initiatives, which he continues to approve,” Onasanya said.

“By the grace of God, we will intensify efforts to further build the capacity of workers to enhance the smooth operation of government business. Ogun State cannot afford to lag behind. We are a leading state, repositioned for excellence, and excellence must remain our watchword.”

Some workers who spoke to journalists, including Mr Lateef Shittu of the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Mrs Stella Olasode of the Ministry of Community Development and Cooperatives, and Mrs Kabirat Obadimu of the Bureau of Service Matters, expressed appreciation to the governor for the end-of-year bonus and other welfare packages received in 2025.
