Idowu Olakunle, Abeokuta
Hours to Saturday’s governorship and House of Assembly elections, the Ogun state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) may have been put into disarray as the Labour Party in the state, on Thursday, went into alliance with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The Labour Party’s decision was aimed at defeating the incumbent APC governor of the state, Dapo Abiodun.
The last minute alliance, which was consolidated on Thursday, with the signing of a working agreement between the chairmen and gubernatorial candidates of the two parties at Park Inn, Abeokuta, was essentially necessitated by the frustrating legal struggle with INEC, orchestrated by some suspended internal moles and saboteurs in Labour Party, who are working for the ruling APC Government in the State.
Finding showed that theLabour Party in the state became the cynosure of all eyes with political parties making frantic move to win her to their sides.
However, after very careful consideration of all its options, the Labour Party decided to align with the PDP.
The choice of the PDP, the party said, was informed by the fact that the manifesto, mission and ideology of the PDP in Ogun State are similar to that of the Labour Party.
The gubernatorial candidate of the PDP Hon Ladi Adebutu also shares the same vision of running a populist, prudent and all inclusive government just like Comrade Kehinde Sogunle, the Labour Party candidate.
The Labour Party said it is committed to the agenda of rescuing, resetting and renewing Ogun state and has a firm belief that its collaboration with PDP will achieve the set goals of bequeathing purposeful governmentto the traumatised citizens of the state.
The party enjoined the entire Obidient movement and all its supporters to align with PDP in tomorrow’s gubernatorial election.
