In the wake of the latest xenophobic attacks on Nigerians and nationals of other African countries, Nigeria’s Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, has reminded the people of South Africa of the roles Nigeria played in ending apartheid regime in the country.

Osinbajo who took to his twitter handle, @ProfOsinbajo on Tuesday to condemn the attacks, noted that the Nigerian government will take up the matter with South African authority.

“Nigeria and Nigerians invested a great deal in the pulling down of apartheid. These acts of bigotry are entirely contrary to the very ideals that all the great South African leaders including the present President fought for, and for which many gave their lives,” Osinbajo said.

“Mr. President has already spoken about this. We will take this up with the authorities in South Africa in to ensure that this sort of thing does not repeat itself. It is absolutely unacceptable.”
