Tinubu travels to Europe, to attend Abu Dhabi sustainability summit in January
President Bola Tinubu has departed Lagos for Europe as part of his end-of-year break, ahead of an official engagement in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, where he is expected to take part in a major global sustainability forum.
The President will attend the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) Summit, following an invitation from UAE President, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The summit is scheduled to hold in early January and will convene world leaders from government, business and civil society to discuss the future of sustainable development.
A statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said the weeklong summit serves as a platform for advancing global dialogue on sustainability and inclusive growth.
The 2026 edition of the summit will be held under the theme “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go”, focusing on how innovation, finance and people can be aligned to drive sustainable economic progress.
According to the Presidency, Tinubu will return to Nigeria after the summit.
The President’s departure comes shortly after he arrived in Lagos to spend the end-of-year holidays, following official visits to Borno and Bauchi states. During his tour, Tinubu visited Borno State, where he commissioned projects executed by the Babagana Zulum-led administration in collaboration with the Federal Government.
Tinubu was received on arrival in Lagos at the presidential wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, senior government officials and leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
