The 2026 FIFA World Cup continued yesterday with another exciting round of group-stage matches as teams battled for crucial points. Several nations produced impressive performances, with Brazil, Morocco, Mexico, Switzerland and South Africa among the winners.
Brazil 3–0 Scotland
Brazil delivered a dominant performance against Scotland in Group C, showing why they remain one of the favourites for the tournament. The five-time world champions controlled possession and created several attacking chances throughout the game.
Vinícius Júnior was the star of the match, scoring Brazil’s first goal in the 7th minute and adding another in first-half stoppage time (45+3). Matheus Cunha completed the victory with Brazil’s third goal in the 60th minute. Scotland struggled to respond as Brazil’s defence remained solid and secured another important three points.
Mexico 3–0 Czechia
Mexico continued their impressive World Cup campaign with a convincing victory over Czechia. Mexico dominated the match with strong attacking play and good control of the midfield.
Mateo Chávez opened the scoring for Mexico, before Julián Quiñones doubled the lead. Álvaro Fidalgo added the third goal to seal a comfortable win for Mexico. The result strengthened Mexico’s position in the group and increased their chances of progressing.
South Africa 1–0 South Korea
South Africa recorded a narrow but important victory over South Korea in a tightly contested match. Both teams created opportunities, but South Africa’s defence stayed organised and disciplined.
The only goal of the match came from Thapelo Maseko, whose strike gave South Africa a valuable three points. The win boosted South Africa’s hopes of reaching the knockout stage.
Switzerland 2–1 Canada
Switzerland fought hard to defeat Canada in another Group B encounter. Ruben Vargas gave Switzerland the lead before Johan Manzambi extended their advantage. Canada responded through Promise David, but Switzerland held firm until the final whistle to claim the victory.
Bosnia and Herzegovina 3–1 Qatar
Bosnia and Herzegovina produced a strong display to overcome Qatar. Kerim Alajbegović scored the opening goal for Bosnia, while Qatar suffered further damage after an own goal by Sultan Al-Brake. Qatar captain Hassan Al-Haydos pulled one back, but Ermin Mahmić scored Bosnia’s third goal to secure the win.
Morocco 4–2 Haiti
Morocco produced one of the most exciting matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after defeating Haiti 4–2 in a thrilling Group C encounter. The match was full of attacking football, late drama and a strong comeback from the Atlas Lions.
Haiti shocked Morocco early in the game by taking the lead in the 10th minute after the ball went into the net as a Yassine Bounou own goal. Haiti then increased their advantage when Wilson Isidor scored in the 43rd minute with a powerful strike, putting Morocco under serious pressure.
Morocco responded before halftime, with captain Achraf Hakimi scoring in the 39th minute to reduce the deficit. Ismael Saibari then equalised in 45+1 minutes, bringing the score to 2–2 before the break. In the second half, Morocco pushed forward and eventually completed the comeback. Substitute Soufiane Rahimi scored in the 78th minute to give Morocco the lead, before another substitute Gessime Yassine sealed the victory with a goal in the 89th minute.
The win helped Morocco secure qualification to the knockout stage, while Haiti exited the tournament despite showing great fighting spirit and scoring their first World Cup goals in decades. Morocco finished the match with strong attacking numbers, controlling possession and creating more chances as they searched for the win.
The latest results have made the race for qualification even more competitive, with teams now fighting for every point as the World Cup group stage moves closer to the knockout rounds.
