South East, Christians lose out as Gbajabiamila, Wase emerge speaker, deputy speaker
The South East Geopolitical zone has lost out in the leadership of the three arms of government as Femi Gbajabiamila from Lagos State, South West and Idris Ahmed Wase from Plateau State, North Central emerge Speaker of the House of Representatives and Deputy Speaker respectively in the 9th Assembly.
Gbajagbiamila, representing Surulere I Federal Constituency of Lagos State, was the preferred candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
He polled 282 votes to defeat his challenger, Umar Bago representing Chanchaga Federal Constituency of Niger State, who got 76 votes and was accordingly declared winner by the Returning Officer, who is the Clark of the National Assembly, Mohammed Sani-Omolori on Tuesday.
Mr Gbajabamila was nominated by Abdulmumin Jibrin from Kano State , while Mr Bago was nominated by Abubakar Mohammed of Yamaltu-Deba Federal Constituency of Gombe State
Meanwhile, Wase, lawmaker representing Wase Federal Constituency of Plateau State in the House of Representatives, emerged as the Deputy Speaker unopposed.
Earlier, Senator Ahmed Lawan from Yobe State, North East emerged Senate President, while Senator Ovie Omo-Agege from Delta, South South emerged Deputy Senate President.
The implication of their emergence is that the South East heads no arm of government under the present administration. President Muhammadu Buhari, head of the executive, is from Katsina, North West. The vice president, Yemi Osinbajo is from Ogun, South West.
Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Mohammad, head of the judiciary, is from Bauchi, North East; while Lawan, head of the legislature is from Yobe, North East.
Again, this will be the first time since 1999 that the leadership of all arms of government will be headed by people of Muslim faith.
President Buhari, Justice Muhammad and Lawan are all Northern Muslims, while Gbajabiamila is a Southern Muslim.

i have said this before and i will say it again and again.
Nigeria has no future, so long as the igbos are being suppressed and not allowed to lead this nation, this country can never get to the promised land

It’s quite unfortunate that rather than your medium looking for progress and development you would rather find a stupid coloration to analyze issues. This your myopic outlook as a Christian tainted organization is be clouding your sense of sanity and objectivity. Why breed hatred? Why always out to attack Muslims and Islam? You can’t last long given this your sad outlook. Change for good.

Nigeria don’t learn , but rigged influenced arrangements will only disappoint every one ,including the planners. The fall this time shall come earlier than latter, it shall be heavy, sudden ,with so many damages.

I have said this before.
If you keep labelling Nigeria and colouring Nigeria as one tribe or one faith or the other, you are attempting to divide this country. The Christians are as good as the Muslims, and no more. Likewise the Muslims are just as good as the Christians. But in a political structure, you cannot begin to look at the map in such a way that you remove the beginning from the end result. The beginning of all seats of power is “Choice”.
If you refuse to come out as a Christian or Muslim for electing your choice, you have given the other party a landslide victory.

Comment:A very nice and objective analysis. Religion is the opium of the society used to cause confusion, inflict pains and inconsequential manipulative tendencies.

Can somebody show me in real facts that Muslim’s are not intelligent. What has religion got to do with leadershil? We have a NERC that is falling grossly. We have monetization of Christianity. Is that what we want? Good luck.
