The Ndiolumbe Autonomous Community in Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area of Abia State was thrown into mourning on Sunday following the alleged murder of a man, Ukaegbu Ogii, believed to be in his mid-60s.
A community source and kinsman of the deceased, who spoke to Newsbuka on condition of anonymity, alleged that Ogii was murdered by Nkume, a man from Umuota in the same Ndiolumbe community.
According to the source, Nkume had previously confronted Ogii, accusing him of having an affair with his wife. The situation nearly turned violent a few weeks ago when Nkume allegedly attacked Ogii, leaving him with a forehead injury.
The source said that despite efforts by community leaders to resolve the dispute, Nkume allegedly continued to harbour resentment and eventually killed Ogii on Sunday afternoon.
Another community member who confirmed the incident said Nkume reportedly used a dagger to stab Ogii in the neck.
The source further disclosed that Nkume, who is currently at large, had previously assaulted Ogii over the same allegation.
As of the time of filing this report, the Ndiolumbe Vigilante Watch had invited Nkume’s wife and daughter for questioning.
