The Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Osun State have distributed 1,600 bags of 50kg rice to Muslim and Christian communities across the state as part of efforts to support residents during the Ramadan and Lenten seasons.
The group also extended the gesture to labour unions, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), and various ethnic groups, including Hausa, Igbo, and Igala communities.
Speaking during the distribution exercise held at the Tinubu-Shettima campaign office in Osogbo, the Osun State Coordinator, Sunday Akere, said the initiative was aimed at easing the burden of rising living costs and ensuring that vulnerable households can partake in the festive periods.
He noted that the gesture was in line with the spirit of giving and inclusiveness associated with both Ramadan and Lent.
“Muslims have observed 30 days of fasting, and by the grace of God, Eid-el-Fitr will soon be celebrated. Our principal deemed it necessary to support them so that families can celebrate with ease,” he said.
Akere added that Christians observing Lent would also benefit from the intervention, stressing that no group should be left out during the season.
“Christians are also in a period of fasting which will culminate in the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu believes that the less privileged should not be excluded from these celebrations,” he added.
He explained that the distribution covered Muslim communities, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), labour unions, student groups, and various ethnic associations across the state.
The initiative, he said, reflects ongoing efforts to provide relief to vulnerable groups and promote unity during the religious season.
