Paris Saint-Germain booked their place in the UEFA Champions League final after surviving a late scare to secure a dramatic 6-5 aggregate victory over Bayern Munich on Wednesday night.

The French champions, defending their European crown, held Bayern to a 1-1 draw at the Allianz Arena to seal progression to the final in Budapest, where they will face Arsenal in a blockbuster showdown.

PSG appeared to have complete control for much of the contest after Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembele gave the visitors the lead early in the encounter, extending their aggregate advantage and silencing the home crowd.

Despite relentless Bayern pressure in the second half, PSG goalkeeper Matvey Safonov produced a string of crucial saves to frustrate the German side. Bayern repeatedly pushed forward through Luis Diaz and Michael Olise, but the visitors’ defence, marshalled by captain Marquinhos, held firm.

Veteran Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer also delivered an outstanding performance, denying PSG on several occasions with key saves from Désiré Doué and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to keep the Bundesliga giants alive in the tie.

As Bayern threw everything forward in the closing stages, manager Vincent Kompany introduced fresh attacking options in search of a comeback. The pressure finally paid off deep into stoppage time when Harry Kane smashed home from close range to level the score on the night.

However, the late goal proved insufficient as PSG managed the final moments before the referee’s whistle sparked wild celebrations among the travelling supporters and players.

The result sends Luis Enrique’s side into consecutive Champions League finals as they continue their pursuit of European dominance. Arsenal now stand between PSG and back-to-back continental titles after the Premier League side eliminated Atletico Madrid in the other semifinal.
