Protesters attack Saraki, Emir, others at Ilorin praying ground
Protesters on Thursday at the eid praying ground in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, attacked Senate President Bukola Saraki; Emir of Ilorin, Ibrahim Sulu Gambari and others, throwing missiles at them and destroying vehicles.
A source said they were protesting non-payment of salaries by the government to civil servants before the Sallah celebrations.
The protesters who were chanting “Pay us our salaries”, “Where is our bailout money”, among others, destroyed an unmarked bus, with a Federal Government of Nigeria number plate. The source said the vehicle belongs to the University of Ilorin.
Others at the praying ground during the attack included Ali Ahmad, speaker of Kwara State House of Assembly; Kawu Baraje, a former acting national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), among others. More later…
