Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has expressed gratitude to residents of the state following his victory in the governorship election, describing the outcome as a strong endorsement of his administration’s performance.
In a statement posted on his X account on Sunday, the governor said the election result reflected the confidence reposed in him by the people across the state.
According to Oyebanji, the outcome demonstrated the collective desire of Ekiti residents to sustain ongoing development initiatives and maintain stability in the state.
“The voice of the people has reverberated from every part of our great state, and the message is clear,” the governor stated.
He said he was humbled by the scale of the victory, noting that he secured victory in all 16 local government areas of the state while also recording about 85 per cent of the total votes cast.
“From our urban centres to our most remote communities, you have spoken with one thunderous voice for continuous development, stability, and a future of endless opportunities,” he said.
Oyebanji described the renewed mandate as a call to greater service, pledging that his administration would intensify efforts to improve the welfare of residents and expand development projects across the state.
He stressed that the election should not be viewed in terms of winners and losers but as a collective victory for the people of Ekiti.
“This mandate means that our work must touch every household even deeper. There are no winners or losers today; there is only one united Ekiti determined to continue its journey of upward mobility,” he added.
The governor also assured residents that he would continue to lead with humility, fairness and dedication, while thanking them for their support and confidence in his leadership.
“I pledge to honour this immense trust by continuing to lead with humility, dedication and fairness. Thank you, Ekiti Kete, for making history with us,” he said.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate winner of the election after polling 319,224 votes across the state’s 16 local government areas.
His closest challenger, Olumayokun Oluyede of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), secured 40,533 votes, while Dare Bejide of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) garnered 12,872 votes.
