Drugs for Osun health centres

The Osun State Primary Healthcare Department Board, in collaboration with the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, has announced plans to distribute essential drugs and medical equipment to 332 primary health centres across the state.

The items were procured by the administration of Ademola Adeleke as part of efforts to improve access to quality healthcare for residents.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday in Osogbo by the Executive Secretary of the Board, Shina Igbalaye.

According to Igbalaye, the distribution of the drugs forms part of a broader strategy by the state government to promote health and well-being among citizens.

He said the initiative would ensure that primary healthcare centres across the state are adequately stocked with essential medications required to treat common ailments.

The drugs to be distributed include antimalarials, antihypertensives, antidiabetics, haematinics, antibiotics, antacids and analgesics.

Igbalaye stressed the importance of the medications in preventing and treating common health conditions within communities.

He also urged residents to take advantage of the services provided at government-owned health facilities and seek medical attention whenever they experience symptoms of illness.

“This distribution is a significant step towards improving health services in Osun State,” Igbalaye said. “We encourage all residents to visit their nearest health centres for any health concerns. Your health remains our priority.”

He added that the distribution exercise would commence soon, noting that the board is putting necessary measures in place to ensure that all health centres receive adequate supplies to serve residents effectively.

The state government said the initiative reflects its continued commitment to strengthening the primary healthcare system and improving health outcomes for people across Osun State.
