Osun: Adeleke signs 2026 appropriation bill, pledges full implementation
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Monday signed the 2026 appropriation bill into law, promising full implementation and highlighting the achievements of his administration over the past three years.
Accompanied by Deputy Governor Prince Kola Adewusi, House of Assembly Speaker Adewale Egbedun, Chief of Staff Hon. Kazeem Akinleye, Head of Service Elder Ayanleye Aina, and members of the cabinet, Adeleke said the signing aims to consolidate and expand governance and service delivery in line with the administration’s five-point agenda.
Speaking after the ceremony, the governor described the occasion as “the launch into the final year of our first term, with expanded ambitions to complete ongoing projects and introduce new initiatives for the benefit of our people.”
He added that his administration had delivered on its promises, completing abandoned projects, launching new initiatives, and addressing workers’ welfare:
Payment of billions in pension and salary arrears, including promotions and allowances neglected by the previous government
Funding for agricultural mechanization, health, and school rehabilitation
Construction of a new five-star stadium in Osogbo
Over 250 kilometers of roads, six road dualizations in five major towns, and three flyover bridges to ease traffic congestion
Innovations in energy, science, and climate change sectors
Adeleke also emphasized fiscal prudence, value for money, and reforms in procurement processes, stating that nearly ₦4 billion had been approved for cooperative societies to deepen grassroots financing.
“Osun’s domestic economy has been strengthened through improved ease of doing business, tax harmonization, fast-tracked Certificate of Occupancy issuance, and revitalized free trade zones,” he said. “Investment inflow has tripled since 2022, and the state is now attracting business delegations from around the world.”
Highlighting his administration’s accomplishments, the governor noted:
Osun topped the South West in Primary Health Care access in 2024 and 2025
National examination performance improved from 33rd in 2022 to 7th in 2024 and 2025
State debt reduced by over 40% according to the Debt Management Office
Infrastructure deficit reduced from 80% in 2022 to 45%
He described 2026 as a “dual year” for governance and elections, stressing that public service would not be neglected despite political activities. “We promise Osun people full implementation of the new appropriation act. Ministries and agencies must follow established timelines to ensure the completion of ongoing projects and programmes,” Adeleke said.
The governor expressed gratitude to residents for their continued support, declaring, “I am personally overwhelmed by the love, prayers, and goodwill from all segments of our society. This strengthens our resolve to work only for the public interest.”
He concluded by reaffirming his commitment to the people: “I remain faithful in the service of the people, for the people, and by the people. I will not disappoint our artisans, workers, youth, students, women, royal fathers, and opinion leaders.”
