The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the August 15 election in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), has urged residents to safeguard their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and resist any attempt by politicians to buy them.
Oyebamiji gave the advice on Wednesday while addressing party supporters during a campaign rally in the Ifelodun/Boripe/Odo-Otin Federal Constituency.
He called on newly registered voters to collect their PVCs from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), urging them to work with APC officials in their respective local government areas to facilitate the process.
According to him, the PVC remains the most important tool for citizens to participate in the August 15 governorship election.
“I urge you to keep your PVC safe. Those who recently registered should ensure they collect their cards on time by liaising with our party officials at the local government level. Once you receive your PVC, do not sell it. It is your power and your licence to participate in the August 15 election,” he said.
Oyebamiji also urged residents not to be intimidated by the activities of other political parties, assuring them that they would be free to exercise their democratic rights without fear.
He warned anyone planning to harass or intimidate voters to desist, stressing that security agencies would deal decisively with anyone found disrupting the electoral process.
The APC candidate pledged that, if elected governor, his administration would ensure equitable development across all parts of the state.
“I assure you that once elected, our government will not discriminate against any part of Osun State. Our manifesto addresses every sector and every community,” he said.
Speaking on rural development, Oyebamiji said agriculture would be a key driver of his administration’s economic agenda, adding that his government would invest in infrastructure to support farmers, boost food production and improve rural livelihoods.
He also dismissed rumours that the election would be marred by violence, urging residents not to be discouraged from participating in the poll.
“The people should not be distracted by rumours of violence. Come out peacefully and vote. A new era of development awaits Osun State,” he added.
As part of the campaign, Oyebamiji paid a courtesy visit to traditional rulers at the Olokuku Palace in Odo-Otin before addressing supporters at the town’s market square.
The campaign train later moved to Ikirun, where he addressed another gathering at the town hall, before proceeding through Iree, Ada, Aagba and Iragbiji.
