The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming Osun State election, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), has announced a scholarship scheme up to the university level for the four children of a woman who died during last week’s devastating rainstorm in Osogbo, the state capital.
Oyebamiji also directed the immediate opening of a special bank account for the children through which he pledged to provide regular financial support to cover their educational needs from primary school through university.
Family members of the deceased commended Oyebamiji for the gesture, praying that God would reward him and grant him victory in the next governorship election in the state.
The APC candidate made the announcement on Sunday during a condolence visit to the family of the late Jemilat Ganiyu, who lost her life during the rainstorm.
The children who will benefit from the scholarship are Tijani Faruk, a JSS2 student; Tijani Mariam, an SS2 student; Tijani Fatimah, an SS3 student; and Tijani Haliah, a Primary Six pupil.
In a brief remark during the visit, Oyebamiji expressed sadness over the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death, noting that while death is inevitable, the loss remained painful for the family and the community.
He extended his condolences to the family, particularly the parents of the deceased, and prayed that Almighty Allah would grant them the strength to bear the loss.
Oyebamiji also visited the Osun State University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, where a mother and her daughter who sustained injuries during the rainstorm are currently receiving treatment.
During the visit, he prayed for the speedy recovery of all patients receiving care at the hospital and made a financial donation to support them.
He further directed his aides to obtain the details of another patient in critical condition whose parents had approached him for assistance.
