The Oke-Ogun Development Consultative Forum (ODCF) has cautioned political actors in Oyo State against actions and statements capable of undermining the Oke-Ogun region and its people in the pursuit of political ambitions.

In a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Prince Remi Adegbola, the forum said its intervention followed a comprehensive review of ongoing political activities and discourse across the state.

The group warned that rising cases of political intimidation and divisive rhetoric could threaten unity and stability, stressing that such conduct must be discouraged.

Describing itself as the apex socio-cultural body representing Oke-Ogun interests, the forum reiterated its firm stance on equity in governance and the need to uphold the principle of rotational leadership.

According to the statement, power rotation remains a critical mechanism for ensuring fairness, justice and inclusivity in a diverse political environment like Oyo State.

The forum maintained that the people of Oke-Ogun would resist any attempt by politicians to assert dominance or superiority over the region, noting that the zone is home to educated and accomplished individuals who have made significant contributions across various sectors.

“Democracy thrives on inclusion and balance. Any system that promotes exclusion or dominance by one section over others risks deepening political tension and eroding public trust,” the statement read.

The ODCF emphasised that the rotation of political power is not a privilege but a moral and political necessity for sustainable development and unity.

It also declared support for growing calls that the next phase of political leadership in the state should shift to the Oke-Ogun axis, citing the region’s historical contributions and demographic importance.

The forum rejected any attempt to concentrate political power in a single zone, warning that such a move would undermine equity and peaceful coexistence.

It further expressed concern over alleged cases of intimidation and harassment of members of the Egbe Ajosepo Fun Itesiwaju Gbogbo Wa, a group advocating power rotation to Oke-Ogun.

The ODCF condemned what it described as acts of victimisation against individuals and groups for expressing legitimate political opinions, warning that such actions could inflame tensions in the region.

The group called on government authorities, stakeholders and political leaders to demonstrate maturity, tolerance and respect for democratic values in handling political differences.

Reaffirming its commitment to a united and progressive Oyo State, the forum urged all stakeholders to support a peaceful and structured transition of power based on fairness, equity and justice.
