As part of efforts to strengthen the state’s security architecture, the Ogun State Government has commissioned a CCTV Control Room for the Amotekun Corps.
The Secretary to the State Government, Mr Tokunbo Talabi, who inaugurated the facility on behalf of the governor at the Amotekun Corps headquarters in Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta, said the state-of-the-art control room was designed to enhance surveillance, intelligence gathering and rapid response to security threats across the state.
Talabi commended the State Security Network Agency, Amotekun Corps, for its dedication, professionalism and commitment to safeguarding lives and property.
He noted that the installation of the CCTV control room reflects the administration’s resolve to deploy technology-driven solutions to tackle crime and ensure public safety at all times.
“Security remains a top priority of the government, and the support given to Amotekun underscores the administration’s belief in proactive and community-based policing,” he said.
The SSG expressed satisfaction with the corps’ operational strides since its inception, emphasising that it has continued to complement other security agencies in maintaining peace and stability across the state.
He assured the corps of the state government’s continued support, stressing that investments in security infrastructure are investments in the socio-economic development of the state.
In his remarks, the Corps Commander of Ogun Amotekun, Brigadier General Alade Adedigba (retd), described the CCTV control room as a milestone in the corps’ operational history.
He explained that the facility would enable real-time monitoring of strategic locations, improve intelligence sharing and enhance coordination with other security agencies for swift responses to incidents.
Adedigba reaffirmed the corps’ commitment to professionalism, discipline and collaboration with sister agencies to ensure a safer Gateway State.
He thanked Governor Dapo Abiodun for the administration’s consistent support and pledged that officers and men of the corps would continue to justify the confidence reposed in them.
Also speaking, the State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, said the cordial relationship among security agencies in the state would continue to strengthen efforts to reduce crime to the barest minimum.
He emphasised the importance of synergy, intelligence sharing and joint operations as key to sustaining peace and security across the state.
Dignitaries at the event included the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, AIG Olusola Subair (retd); Consultant to the Governor on Security, CP Edward Ajogun (retd); Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Cabinet and Special Services, Alhaji Olanrewaju Saka; and the South-West Commander of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, ACG Shola Shodiyan, among others.
