The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has received multiple international recognitions for its role in promoting leadership, governance, and regional transformation in the Niger Delta.

The awards were presented by the Institute of Public Sector Management at the Parliament House in Westminster, London, during a ceremony that honoured key officials of the commission.

Among those recognised were the Managing Director of the NDDC, Dr Samuel Ogbuku; the Executive Director, Finance and Administration, Alabo Boma Iyaye; and the Director, Finance and Accounts, Mrs Kunemofa Asu.

According to the organisers, Ogbuku was honoured with the International Public Service Excellence Award for his “strategic and transformational leadership.” He was represented at the event by his Chief of Staff, Rev. Obegha Oworibo.

Similarly, Iyaye, represented by the Director of Administration and Human Resources, Sir Kelechi Nwelue, received recognition for his “distinguished contributions to integrity and administrative excellence in public service.”

The institute also honoured Asu for her “distinguished contributions to regional development, integrity and accountability.”

Reacting to the awards, Ogbuku said the international recognition reflects the growing acknowledgement of the commission’s efforts to transform the Niger Delta region.

He thanked the Institute of Public Sector Management for acknowledging the NDDC’s contributions to regional development, noting that the recognition would motivate the commission’s board and management to intensify their work.

The NDDC boss also reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to completing ongoing legacy projects aimed at accelerating development in the region, while maintaining focus on human capital development.
