Some irate women from Oke-Ere in the Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State staged protests on Wednesday over what they called the “endless reign of terror” in their community.

The women, mostly elderly, marched through the town with melancholic chants in a local Yagba dialect.

In a video sighted by this medium on Wednesday, they turned out apparently half-naked, holding sticks and leaves as they cried and sang about the constant attacks, kidnappings, and killings happening around them.

They appealed to the government and security forces to step up their act and stop the violence.

This protest comes on the heels of the kidnappings of three people and injuring of four others along the Ayere-Kabba Expressway in March by gunmen.

The injured victims were taken to St. John’s Hospital in Kabba for treatment.
