Foremost engineering and construction company, Julius Berger Nigeria PLC, celebrated International Women’s Day 2026 over the weekend with outreach programs in schools across Abuja, Lagos, and Port Harcourt, while also engaging its female staff across regional offices and project sites.
In Abuja, students at Government Secondary School, Life Camp, Gwarinpa, and Government Secondary School, Garki, received educational materials and other support items during interactive sessions designed to inspire ambition, confidence, and leadership among young girls. The initiative forms part of Julius Berger’s ongoing commitment to youth empowerment and gender inclusion.
During the sessions, company representatives shared personal career insights and experiences. Anastasia Okonkwo, Head of Quality Control and Assurance, encouraged students to dream boldly, noting that goals that initially appear intimidating often hold the greatest potential for achievement. She emphasized that success begins with envisioning possibilities beyond immediate circumstances and committing to the discipline needed to realize them.
Omonigho Brown, Contract Manager, delivered a motivational talk titled “Your Voice, Your Relevance, and Your Future”, highlighting the importance of leadership, self-expression, and overcoming social barriers. She urged students to recognize small opportunities to lead, whether as class prefects, head girls, or in family responsibilities, stressing that such experiences build the foundation for future positions of influence.
At the Lagos outreach, Rasheedat Anifowoshe, Civil Engineer and Technical Officer, encouraged students to pursue careers in fields traditionally dominated by men. She highlighted that determination, focus, and proper time management are key to excelling, and assured participants that Julius Berger Nigeria Plc remains committed to supporting young women during Industrial Training (IT/SIWES) and other professional opportunities.
Students actively engaged in the sessions, reflecting on the lessons shared and expressing renewed confidence in their abilities and career aspirations. Educational and sundry support items were also distributed to the students as symbolic encouragement.
Similar activities took place at project sites in Uyo, Oloibiri, and Bodo-Bonny, where female staff gathered for in-house sessions to reflect on the significance of the Day and share experiences relevant to local contexts.
The outreach programs underscore Julius Berger Nigeria PLC’s ongoing dedication to community development, youth empowerment, and advancing gender inclusion, particularly in sectors where women continue to make meaningful strides.
Through these initiatives, the company continues to nurture the next generation of female leaders, while supporting educational growth and promoting professional excellence among young women across Nigeria.
