Islamic clerics praise Adeleke for good governance

Governor Ademola Adeleke

Islamic clerics, Sheikh Razak Aduagba and Sheikh Abdulahi Olorunlomerue, have commended Governor Ademola Adeleke for his exemplary delivery of good governance and his unwavering commitment to God in all aspects of his leadership.

In a statement signed by the governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, in Osogbo on Sunday, the clerics lauded Adeleke’s performance, noting that it has surpassed that of his predecessors.

The commendations were made during separate Ramadan lectures organized by the Ede chapter and the Osogbo state headquarters of the Nasifat Islamic Organization, attended by hundreds of Islamic faithful.

Sheikh Abdulahi Olorunlomerue emphasized that no true Muslim would engage in election malpractice, while the governor’s Political Adviser, Hon. Muniru Raji, highlighted three actions of Adeleke’s administration that demonstrate he is a devout Muslim in practice, unlike some opposition politicians.

Delivering a lecture at the Osogbo headquarters, Sheikh Razak Aduagba Al-Adabiy described Governor Adeleke as “an agent of good governance whose achievements are receiving accolades far and near.”

Addressing the governor directly, the cleric said:

“Your good work speaks for you. The world sees how you are being victimized; the people see how you are harassed; we know how your local government funds were seized.

Despite all attacks, you continue to deliver on all fronts. You are a true leader, fulfilling the principles of good governance. God will protect you and grant you victory.

Your work speaks louder than words, even confronting those who oppose you. Your achievements are a testament to your prayers and dedication.

You are a different kind of governor. Elections are approaching, yet you work tirelessly, attending to the needs of your people and ongoing projects.”

At the Ede Nasfat lecture, Sheikh Olorunlomerue, chairman of the Olorunlomerue Islamic Foundation, warned that politicians threatening to rig the forthcoming Osun elections are not true Muslims.

“Those who fast and go on pilgrimage, yet vow to rig elections, are committing evil. Evil and good cannot coexist. You cannot claim to worship God while engaging in violence, corruption, and bad governance. Your fasting and worship are meaningless if your actions contradict God’s will,” he said.

The cleric further stated that Governor Adeleke’s re-election is assured due to his performance and divine blessings, noting, “No governor in recent Osun history has performed as Adeleke has. The election is under God’s supervision, and those managing it must act carefully. Adeleke’s popularity and achievements are undeniable.”

Hon. Muniru Raji, the governor’s political adviser and veteran Islamic activist, reinforced the clerics’ remarks, highlighting Adeleke’s tangible contributions to Islamic development in the state.

“There is a difference between someone who merely claims to be a Muslim and one whose actions reflect faith. Unlike his predecessors, Governor Adeleke has established a permanent Hajj camp, initiated the construction of a mosque in the Government House, and properly constituted a pilgrims’ welfare board to care for Osun pilgrims,” he stated.

Governor Adeleke attended the two lectures with Yeye Modupe Adeleke-Sanni, Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Teslim Igbalaye, members of the State Executive Council, and other top government officials.
