The Federal Government has officially announced Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, as public holidays to commemorate Eid-el-Fitr, the festival marking the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Magdalene Ajani, the minister conveyed warm greetings and sincere congratulations to Muslim faithful across the country for successfully completing the Ramadan fast.

Tunji-Ojo urged Muslims to carry forward the core values cultivated during the holy month- love, generosity, peace, tolerance, and sacrifice -into their daily lives.

He further appealed to all Nigerians to use the occasion to pray fervently for sustained peace, national unity, and prosperity in the country.

While wishing Muslim faithful a happy and blessed Eid-el-Fitr, the minister encouraged responsible celebrations and emphasized the importance of extending compassion and support to the less privileged during the festive period.
