The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming election in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), has extended warm felicitations to Muslims and Christians across the state and beyond on the commencement of this year’s Ramadan and Lent fasting seasons.
Oyebamiji called for renewed devotion and commitment to the teachings of the holy periods, urging adherents of both faiths to embrace sober reflection and spiritual rededication.
He charged the Muslim Ummah and Christians to seek the boundless divine blessings embedded in the season, while extending hands of fellowship to one another and abstaining from acts forbidden during and beyond the fasting period.
“As Muslims and Christians across the globe commence fasting in this holy season, I warmly rejoice with and extend my heartfelt felicitations to our brothers and sisters in Islam and Christianity in Osun State and beyond. This is indeed a period of sober reflection, genuine introspection on our deeds, and rededication to the will and commandments of Almighty God,” he said.
The APC flagbearer urged believers to intensify good deeds and refrain from actions capable of undermining their prayers and supplications.
“As believers, this is the time to double our efforts in doing good and to refrain from all that is forbidden by God and from things that could weaken our prayers. Let us be our brother’s keeper. Let us increase our devotion to serving God and humanity, and continue to preach peace, love, unity, stability and cohesion for prosperity.
“Islam is a religion of peace, and it is incumbent on us as Muslims to reflect this in our conduct and actions. To our Christian brothers and sisters, this is the time to further demonstrate the spirit of religiosity and spirituality as exemplified by Jesus Christ,” Oyebamiji stated.
He noted that the season goes beyond fasting and prayers, describing it as a period of self-assessment and evaluation of past, present and future actions.
According to him, adherents should embrace virtues such as selflessness, discipline, faithfulness, piety, sacrifice, purity, patience, tolerance and nobility, as exemplified by the Holy Prophet Muhammad and Jesus Christ.
“As we begin this divine journey into the holy season, I pray that Almighty God will continue to imbue us with greater wisdom, knowledge and understanding to serve Him better. May we witness many more holy seasons on earth,” Oyebamiji prayed.
