Emirates restarts Lagos-Dubai flights as Middle East tensions ease

Emirates Airline

Emirates Airlines has resumed its Dubai–Lagos–Dubai flight operations following a temporary suspension caused by rising tensions in the Middle East.

The airline announced that services would restart on Friday, providing relief to travellers whose plans were disrupted by the ongoing conflict involving Iran, the United States, and Israel.

Several Gulf carriers, including Emirates, had halted flights globally after hostilities escalated on February 28, 2026. The conflict prompted the closure of airspace in several countries following missile exchanges and retaliatory strikes, raising security concerns across the region.

In a message to its trade partners in Nigeria, Emirates confirmed: “We will be operating Dubai–Lagos–Dubai flights (EK783 & EK784) tomorrow, March 6, 2026.”

The airline said the resumption presents passengers with a timely opportunity to resume travel and urged travellers to book early, citing expected high demand for seats after the suspension.

“Emirates continues to monitor the situation and will adjust its operational schedule as necessary. The latest flight updates will be published on our website,” the airline added.

Prior to the full resumption, Emirates had initiated limited skeletal flights to Dubai earlier this week, closely coordinating with aviation authorities to ensure safety.

Passengers are advised to check flight status and travel updates before proceeding to the airport.

Sources familiar with the airline’s operations said Emirates might continue running reduced flights until the regional security situation stabilises. The ongoing missile exchanges between Israel and Iran, along with retaliatory strikes against US-aligned countries, have continued to disrupt normal aviation operations in the Gulf.

The recent escalation had forced major Gulf nations to temporarily close their airspace, leading carriers to suspend commercial flights for safety reasons.

Qatar Airways has also indicated plans to resume Lagos services soon, signalling a gradual return of normal flight operations between Nigeria and the Middle East.

This development is expected to ease travel for business and leisure passengers who rely on Gulf carriers for connections across Europe, Asia, and North America.
