Fuyeman Wilson, political adviser to Governor Henry Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State was on Wednesday kidnapped by unknown gunmen.
A police statement signed by Asinim Butswat, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), said Wilson and his personal assistant, only identified as Fred, were abducted from his residence at Sagbama at about 4.00a.m.
Butswat disclosed that five armed men carried out the kidnapping and took them to an unknown destination and that the Marine Police, Joint Task Force (JTF) and police Anti-Kidnapping Unit have been alerted to rescue the victims and arrest the perpetrators.
This is coming after the release of two chiefs of Okpoama in Brass Local Government Area earlier on Tuesday.
There is no news on the kidnap of the paramount ruler of Gbarantoru community, Benjamin Weke last Friday from his home a day before the marriage ceremony of his son.
The police statement reads: “On the 9/9/2015, at about 0400hrs, five unknown gunmen went to the residence of Hon Wilson Fyneman at Sagbama Town, in Sagbama LGA, and abducted him with his personal assistant Mr Fred, to an unknown destination.
“The Marine Police, JTF and the anti kidnapping unit have been alerted. Efforts have been intensified to rescue the victims and arrest the abductors. Investigation is ongoing.”
The Okpoama chiefs were released without ransom after the kidnappers realised that they were from their ancestral home, a competent source said in Yenagoa.
It is not clear if Wilson’s abduction is politically motivated or the beginning of high profile kidnappings in the state leading to the governorship election in December this year.
