Delegates flee as gunmen shoot sporadically at Kogi PDP primary venue
Gunmen early Wednesday morning, invaded Lokoja Confluence Stadium, venue of the Kogi State governorship primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), shooting sporadically and forcing delegates to scamper for safety.
The gunmen arrived at about 1:45 am when voting had ended and sorting of votes were going on and started shooting from different directions, forcing proceedings to be abandoned.
At the time of the attack, votes in eight out of the 10 ballot balloxes had already been counted.
Aspirants, delegates and others, including Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State, the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, scampered for safety.
It is yet to be ascertained if there were any casualties.
