Dangote Cement Plc delivered a robust performance in the first quarter of 2026, recording a 71.6 per cent surge in cement and clinker exports from Nigeria, while expanding its total installed production capacity to 55 million tonnes per annum (MTA) across Africa.

The company completed 10 clinker shipments to neighbouring countries during the quarter, reinforcing its leadership as Africa’s top cement exporter.

According to its unaudited financial results, group sales volumes rose by 13.8 per cent year-on-year, supported by an 11.5 per cent increase in Nigeria and a stronger 19.5 per cent growth across its pan-African operations.

Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Arvind Pathak, said the results reflect solid execution and resilience across the company’s markets.

He noted that revenue climbed by 20.4 per cent to ₦1.198 trillion, driven by higher volumes, while earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) rose by 22.8 per cent to ₦567.1 billion.

Profitability also strengthened, with profit before tax increasing by 35 per cent to ₦421.1 billion from ₦311.9 billion recorded in the same period of 2025. Earnings per share grew significantly to ₦19.14, up from ₦12.29.

On the export front, Pathak highlighted the company’s accelerating international footprint, noting that the strong export growth underscores its strategic positioning in regional markets.

He added that recent and ongoing investments are expected to further drive expansion. The company has commissioned a 3MTA grinding plant in Côte d’Ivoire and is advancing key projects in Itori, Nigeria, and Ethiopia, alongside other initiatives across the continent.

Dangote Cement aims to scale its production capacity to 80 million tonnes annually by 2030.

Looking ahead, Pathak expressed confidence in sustaining the growth momentum, citing resilient demand, a strong project pipeline, and continued operational efficiency.

Dangote Cement remains Africa’s largest cement producer, with 35.25MTA of its capacity located in Nigeria. Its flagship Obajana plant in Kogi State, the largest in Africa, accounts for 16.25MTA, while Ibese, Gboko, and Okpella plants contribute 12MTA, 4MTA, and 3MTA respectively.

Through consistent investment in local production, the company has helped Nigeria transition from reliance on imported cement to becoming a net exporter of cement and clinker, supplying markets across West and Central Africa.
