The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced that the main online recruitment examination for shortlisted candidates in the Inspectorate and Customs Assistant cadres will hold on Thursday, October 9, 2025.

The Service said the test represents a key stage in its nationwide recruitment drive to strengthen manpower at the middle and lower ranks.

According to the statement, the entire process will be conducted online to promote fairness, transparency and equal access for applicants across the country.

Exam guidelines

Candidates have been grouped into three batches — A, B and C — and are required to log in with their National Identification Number (NIN) through the official portal (https://updates.customs.gov.ng) to check their specific batch, date and time.

The NCS stressed that strict compliance with the allocated schedule is mandatory, warning that failure to adhere may lead to automatic disqualification.

Applicants are barred from using calculators, mobile phones or other electronic devices during the test. The Service also cautioned against multiple log-ins or switching between browser windows, noting that such actions could disrupt or terminate participation.

Scope of the exercise

Only candidates shortlisted in the Inspectorate and Customs Assistant cadres are eligible for this stage. Those in the Superintendent cadre will be notified later of their own phase of the recruitment process.

The NCS explained that the adoption of online testing reflects its broader effort to modernise recruitment and ensure efficiency in candidate assessment.

“This process allows for improved transparency and minimises human interference in marking and evaluation,” the Service noted.

The online exam is expected to filter qualified candidates who will proceed to the next stage of the recruitment exercise.
